CPA Fellows Dinner

CPA FELLOWS DINNER

The distinction of Fellow (FCPA) formally recognizes Chartered Professional Accountants (CPA) who have rendered exceptional service to the profession and in their communities.

Each year, Fellows are nominated, recognized and celebrated by their peers for their outstanding contributions in their profession and in the community.  These distinguished Fellows are world-class CPAs that span numerous sectors and industries, demonstrating the breadth and depth of the profession. Their roles vary widely from partners and CFOs to entrepreneurs, academics and leaders of international brands.

The CPA Council was thrilled to bestow the 2023 FCPA award to 34 Fellows with family, friends, nominators and past Fellows recipients in attendance for this great honor.

While celebrating the accomplishments of the nominees in a beautiful VIP setting, the event was meant to renew pride of the profession within the CPA community.  As the event was feted across social media channels and national publications, the hope remained to have these winners become ambassadors and advocates for the CPA while inspiring others to get involved.

For the first in-person post-Covid event, CPA Ontario partnered with Charlie & Sprocket to help bring this incredible vision to life and with it, showcase the significance of the evening.  C&S drew on their event expertise to lead Production, Design + Decor, and Talent + Entertainment.

The Park Hyatt Hotel in Toronto played host to the extraordinary evening and kicked off with a cocktail reception which included: custom-made outfits for greeters, custom-made pillars showcasing the hand-drawn portraits of the winners, entertainment by the Canadian crooner Steven Taetz Jazz Band fresh off his latest critically acclaimed single ‘Late Bloom’, a fashion illustrator for custom gala portraits, and a bespoke custom designed gallery wall of award winners, to enhance the existing ambiance of the night.

Once guests were seated for the awards dinner hosted by former CBC news anchor and distinguished Fellow at the Munk School of Global Affairs, Peter Mansbridge guided guests through the ceremony and many musical moments of the evening.

The evening started with a land acknowledgement performed through dance and hoop by Indigenous cultural activist/singer and dancer, Theland Kicknoswa.  From there, the show continued with pianist sensation Thompson Egbo-Egbo.  A star in his own right, he has played for Quincy Jones, H.R.H Prince Charles, H.R.H. Prince Edward, H.R.H. Prince Phillip; and, produced a medley tribute to their inductees including Leonard Cohen, Gordon Lightfoot, Oscar Peterson and Joni Mitchell.  The night continued with the all-female string quartet Bowed Arts, known for their eclectic arrangements, entertaining the audience with their captivating, high-energy contemporary take on strings classics.
